Lower Sproul Redevelopment
Sproul Plaza, MLK Student Union, and Eslocated at UC Berkeley, CA
The Lower Sproul Redevelopment Project at UC Berkeley renews the Sproul Plaza, MLK Student Union, and Eshleman Hall precinct as a contemporary hub for student life. It integrates student services, informal learning and study zones, student-run initiatives, commercial uses, and improved circulation and accessibility. A new multiuse building for student organizations, the renovated and expanded MLK Student Union, an improved student resource center, and a highly serviced plaza open key connections between campus, a new transportation hub, and downtown Berkeley. Transparent building edges and an activated plaza allow indoor and outdoor activities to reinforce one another, drawing students into performances, programs, and amenities throughout the day.
